In these chapters Stanley Yelnats is sent to Camp Green Lake for “stealing” a pair of baseball player’s shoes. He also explains why he has such bad luck. When Stanley arrives at Camp Green Lake he is introduced to Mr. Sir and Mr. Pendanski, his councilor. At night when he tries to fall asleep he then starts thinking about how he got here.- Chris Kelly
In these chapters Stanley digs his first hole. While he is digging the story switches over to his great-great-grandfather Elsya, it explains why his dirty-rotten-pig stealing-great-great-grandfather was supposed to get married, but someone else in town named Igor, wanted his future wife. So the father decided to have a competition for his daughter. Whose ever pig was the biggest would win his daughter. Elsya went to his one legged friend Madame Zeronie and she gave Elsya a piglet. Madame Zeronie told Elsya to go to the top of a mountain and give the pig water and sing to it. After the pig was given to the bride’s father Elsya would have to carry Madame Zeronie up to the mountain and sing her the song. After Stanley finished his hole he went to the rec. room and wrote his mother a letter. Later Squid and Zigzag were talking to him and calling him Caveman, his new nickname.-Chris Kelly
Stanley had no trouble falling asleep the second night. In his second hole, he found a fish fossil but it was not valuable. In his third hole, X-Ray said "If you find anything, bring it to me.". He also thought that any of these guys could beat up Derik Dune. When he got back to his cabin, they were talking about what they like and want to be when they grow up. The next day when Stanley was digging his third hole, he found a gold tube and had a KB on it. He brought it to X-Ray and he took it. At breakfast, Stanley asked him what he's going to do with it, but he didn’t reply. When Mr. Pendanski came to fill up the canteens, X-Ray showed him the tube and he got a day off. Then they talked about how there are a lot of cameras around here. -Connor White
Chapters 22-28
Stanley agreed to help Zero learn how to read and write only if Zero helped Stanley dig his hole so Stanley would have energy to teach him. As Stanley was in his cot he remember where he saw the gold tube in his mothers bathroom it was a half of Lake was the largest lake in Texas one hundred ten years ago on the Fourth of July Miss Katherine Barlow was give special prizes every year for her spiced peaches. Katherine was also a schoolteacher she loved children and was educated. Charles Walker (aka Trout Walker) was called Trout because his two feet smelled like to died fish but he had a foot fungus. Most people thought Miss Katherine was going to marry Trout because his dad was the second richest man in the country. Stanley was at breakfast that morning and saw Mr. Sir when a boy asked him what was wrong with his face so Mr. Sir choked the boy and didn’t say anything else. Later that day Stanley was digging he fast with any pace the first water truck was driven by
Mr. Pendaski the second water truck was driven by Mr. Sir. When Stanley asked for water instead Mr. Sir poured the water onto the ground leaving Stanley’s canteen empty. The next morning a man named Dr. Hawthon was at Camp Green Lake and also saw Sam the onion man with his donkey Mar Lou. Miss Katherine was buying some onions from Sam when Sam noticed that she was distracted. Sam asked why she was disappointed because her school roof was leaky so came can to school nighttime and in the morning. Sam had worked or her famous spiced peaches. Sam had to come to school night and in the morning because he was black. Then Miss Katherine and Sam became if love. Sam and Katherine were kissing when Hattie Parker saw them. It was illegal for blacks to kiss whites. People were after Miss Katherine and Sam so they had to get on Sams boat. Trout and his gas-powered boat rammed into Sam/s boat and shot and killed him. Three days later after Sam’s death Katherine shot and killed the sheriff because he said that he was going to hang Sam before his death. After twenty years Miss Katherine returned to Green Lake one morning Trout Walker came into her cabin with a rifle to her face. Trout wasn’t alone he was with Miss Katherine’s fourth grade friend Linda Walker. They were asking her were the lout was. The two were torturing her till and lizard bit her on her bare ankle. The two were asking were it was but she had already died.

Chapter 29-33
In this chapter everyone treats Stanley as if he is better than everyone else. Stanley tries to tell them he is not, but they don’t listen to him. Stanley and X-Ray get in a fight, and Zero protects Stanley by chocking X-Ray. Zero runs away. Stanley tries to get Zero of his mind, but he can’t because here’s a new kid there named Twitch. He was there at Camp Green Lake because he stole a car. Mr. Pendanski, Mr. Sir, and the Warden tell Stanley that he’s not helping Zero by lying because they think he is. When Mr. Sir comes to fill up the water canteens Stanley looks to see if he still has the keys in the car, and he got in the car and drove away. He was looking for Zero. If he found him alive he would give him water. So far Staley has not found Zero. – Katie
In these parts Stanley is walking and when he finally sees God’s Thumb he also notices a weird object in the middle of the desert. AS he walks toward it he sees a hole. Then he hears a moan and sees Zero! When he goes down under the boat, which is called Mary Lo, Stanley tries a weird food in a jar that Zero calls sploosh. After they leave they head toward God’s Thumb. As they walk Zero every once in a while falls down and is sick from the sploosh. After they are close they hit a 50-foot cliff. They climb it by finding crevices and using them as footholds. As Stanley and Zero walk and climb Stanley spells words and Zero says them. When they are climbing God’s Thumb they notice weeds that need water. After they kept walking Zero passed out. Stanley carried him up the mountain and then he fell in mud. Stanley then thought that mud needs water, so when he was digging in the mud he hit something smooth; he realized it was an onion. He ate half of they onion and gave the rest to a half-conscious Zero, and said it’s his hot fudge sundae.- Chris Kelly
When Stanley ate the onion the night before he knew that there had to be more. As he searched threw the dirt, he had dug up a flower and pulled the entire plant out of the ground. Sam and Mary Lou were trying to sell onions when Mrs. Cladys Tennyson came up to him. She thanked him for saving her daughter and left. When Hattie came up to Sam they were talking about Mrs. Cladys’ daughters sickness. But Hattie already new knew about the sickness because her husband had the sickness to. That night Zero and Stanley ate an onion. Stanley left Zero so he could go find the shovel to get more water out of the hole. The next day Zero ‘s condition continued to improve. Later, Zero and Stanley eat onions. Zero talked about his mom and how she was a girl scout. Zero also talks about the shoes that he had stole from Clyde Livingston but at the time Zero didn’t know who’s shoes they where. Stanley started to think he should go back to Camp Green Lake and sneak in the kitchen and try to find food or water. So they left on their way when Zero discovered that they had gone the wrong way. Finally Stanley and Zero were at Camp Green Lake looking for the hole Stanley had found the gold tube.- Evan wilkins
In these chapters Stanley falls into a 5 foot deep hole and then when Stanley and Zero saw lights and lights coming from flash lights they new it was all of them searching or looking for them. When they opened the box two lizards coming out of the case and then a few more then the boys start getting scared because by now the lizards are on the boys. When they arrive they see the lizards all over the boys they start doubting that the boys will stay alive when they were saying that Stanley started having memories from the past in his head. Stanley’s Layer came to get Stanley because he was free that day. When Stanley found out he had to leave Zero he would not.
